Mr. X's Midi Files


With the aid of the computer program Sibelius, I have produced a musical score for my film "Jekyll & Canada", as well as numerous other works. For another film project, I plan to use several older tarantelles. For reference purposes, I am listing midi files which I have created and compositions that are of interest to me, including a list of older tarantelles. To avoid licensing costs and copyright infringements, I have most often used sheet music published before 1923, to avoid United States copyrights. Also, I have avoided music written by composers, outside of the United States, who died less than fifty years ago, (for possible Canadian copyrights), and less than seventy years ago, (for European copyrights).

While I do my best to copy the music, as it was written, I do encounter errors and flaws; and, tho I may copy an arrangement for a piano with a vocal score, I may substitute an instrument for the vocal part and use different instruments from the original arrangement. Thus, I would claim a derivative copyright from the composer's work for my own arrangements and the sequencing of these midi files. However, I enjoy this music and wish to share that enjoyment with others. Copy and enjoy it for your personal use; ask for my permission if you'd like to include it on your own webpage or in some commercial application; but, please, don't plagiarize my copyrighted work nor sell it to others.
