The Correspondence of, and to, Charles Hoy Fort

Fort to Dreiser

01 June 1916

New York. June 1 ‘16.

My dear Dreiser:—

But why?

I sent you "Y" two months ago. Are you overcome? Have you even seen it?

But not silent with me, for you are violating your only reason for being, in being silent.

Are you a lily? Have you a glory that is more than Solomon's? Is yours the mystery of the breast of a blue bird?

What your words, what justification have you?

Send me some words.

Words. Sound. Pictures.

Them things. Send them

To

Charles Fort

Please, or I'll smite thee.
