The Correspondence of, and to, Charles Hoy Fort

Fort to Dreiser

09 May 1919

New York. May 9. 1919.

My dear Dreiser:—

I send you the "Old Scow," to keep or to do with as you see fit. There are a great many crudities in it - see the last paragraph, for instance - look at "local color" dragged in by the ears in other parts. It seems you've taken a fancy to it; so keep it yourself. I'll try to have something damneder for you, or more in my present vein, later.

I composed my new data, all together, in one penultimate chapter, which I sent to Liveright, to be inserted in "The Book of the Damned."

I think the book-magazine idea is very good.
