The Correspondence of, and to, Charles Hoy Fort

Fort to Dreiser

19 May 1919

New York. May 19, ‘19

My dear Dreiser:

We were very much shocked to hear about you. It's an achievement on your part. I've read your stuff for a good many years now without sprinkling holy water around me. This time you gave me a shock. I heard over the telephone that you're all right, and the good thing is that it's not hot weather you're laid up in. I suspect that I have had a little psychic experience on account of you; I'll tell you about that later.

Here's hoping that your leucocytes and osteoblasts will be faithful and efficient.

C. Fort
